Hungarian guitarist Ferenc Snétberger will present his new album Titok (ECM, 2017) with his trio – bassist Matthew Hall and drummer Toni Snetberger – in Sofia Live Club on March, 28th at 20:00 h. Snetberger’s intensely melodic improvisational music marks his style and ranks him among the most remarkable contemporary European musicians (more to read below). The concert is kindly supported by the Hungarian Institute in Sofia. Tickets for the concert could be found in Dukyan Meloman(6-ti septemvri 7a str. Sofia 1000) and on https://event.gg/8734/ . The gracefully flowing guitar, the enveloping rhythmic undertow, and the highly creative playing from all participants captivate throughout Titok. There is soloistic brilliance here and high-level interplay, and the music takes the time it needs to unfold, breathing very naturally. The compound sound of the trio, with Ferenc’s acoustic nylon-string guitar partnered by bass and drums, is special. Throughout Titok, Ferenc plays a guitar hand-built to his specifications by the late German luthier Tom Launhardt. Born in 1957 in northern Hungary, guitarist/composer Ferenc Snétberger (http://ferencsnetberger.com) was the youngest son of a family of musicians. Snétberger studied classical music and jazz guitar. Today he is best known for his art of improvising and his crossing of stylistic borders. His music is inspired by the Roma tradition of his home country, Brazilian music and flamenco as well as classical guitar playing and jazz. He has recorded lots of albums as a leader(Nomad, Joyosa, Landscapes, Streams, In Concert, Titok), but also in collaboration with some of the biggest figures in jazz like Markus Stockhausen, Arild Andersen, Anders Jormin and has toured all over Europe as well as Japan, Korea, India and the United States. He also composes music for film and theater. In 2011, Snétberger founded the Snétberger Musical Talent Center (www.snetbergercenter.org), for the musical education of children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
